Precedent Decisions
A precedent decision is a state hearing decision or part of a decision that is designated and indexed as a precedent decision by the Director of the California Department of Social Services pursuant to the California Administrative Procedure Act because it contains a significant legal or policy determination of general application that is likely to recur.
The Department of Social Services has adopted procedures to implement precedent decisions solely for the social services program that are administered by the counties. They do not apply to licensing appeals to the Community Care Licensing Division or to the Medi-Cal program appeals from the California Department of Health Services.
