New Funding Alerts

  • Funding for NGO Programs in the North and South Caucasus Benefiting Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs):
    The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) announces funding for projects in the North and South Caucasus of $2.6 million for FY 2008. Visit the PRM web site for more information.  Proposal deadline is April 28, 2008.
  • AFI Individual Development Account Grant Funding:
    The Office of Community Services (OCS) is accepting applications for funding new Assets for Independence (AFI) projects .  Applicants may submit application materials at any time throughout the year. OCS will review and fund new grants in two cycles annually in calendar years 2008, 2009 and 2010. The application receipt dates are as follows. OCS must receive the applications no later than 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on the receipt dates: Winter Cycle -- January 15 receipt date and Spring Cycle -- March 25 receipt date.
  • Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Accepting Proposals for Local Funding Partnerships:
    Matching grants of up to $500,000 will be awarded to local grantmakers launching and expanding projects to improve the health of the underserved in their communities. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Local Funding Partnerships program is designed to forge relationships between the RWJF and local grantmakers to fund promising, original projects that can significantly improve the health of vulnerable people in their communities.  Deadline for applications is July 8, 2008. Visit the Foundation Center web site for details.  For more grant announcements from the Foundation Center, see the Philanthropy News Digest which publishes RFPs and notices of awards as a free service for grant-making organizations and nonprofits.
  • Funding for Programs Assisting Refugee Populations in Pakistan and Recent Returned Refugees in Afghanistan:
    The Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) is hereby soliciting proposals for humanitarian projects benefiting Afghan refugees in Pakistan and returnees in Afghanistan. These projects are to provide vocational training and income generation programs, basic and maternal/child health care, primary education, water and sanitation systems, and shelter and are consistent with PRM’s General NGO Guidelines for Overseas Assistance. Deadline for Proposals: February 25 and April 18. For more details, visit the PRM web site .

  • ORR Standing Announcements for Services to Recently Arrived Refugees:
    The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 Standing Announcements are: the Standing Announcement for the Preferred Communities Program; the Standing Announcement for Supplemental Services for Recently Arrived Refugees (formerly, Unanticipated Arrivals); and the Standing Announcement for Ethnic Community Self-Help. These announcements replace the FY 2004 Standing Announcement for Services to Recently Arrived Refugees. For details, see ORR State Letter 08-05 . The FY 2008 closing date for all three Standing Announcements is March 24, 2008.
  • More Grant Opportunities:
    On occassion the Refugee Programs Bureau (RPB) receives electronic announcments of current grant opportunities. RPB will be posting these announcements as they become available. A page link to a list of current grant opportunities is available here. The list is not in any particular order and the funding sources vary. These grants are open to Faith-based organizations and public or nonprofit private organizations.
  • Administration for Children and Families Grant Announcements:
    As of 2006, the Administratrion for Children and Families (ACF) no longer publishes grant announcements in the Federal Register. Applicants can find a synopsis of all ACF grant opportunities and apply electronically for opportunities via the Grants.gov web site. Applicants will also be able to find the complete text of all ACF grant announcements on the ACF web site.
