County Refugee Coordinators

County Refugee Coordinators (CRCs) are responsible for implementing strategies, funding and operating procedures for refugee services and programs. They provide advocacy with elective officials regarding refugee issues. The CRCs have knowledge and experience in naturalization, immigration and refugee program laws, policies and procedures.

The CRCs work with various sources such as the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORK), school districts, health care, law enforcement, advisory councils, Mutual Assistance Associations (MAAs), local employers, Voluntary Resettlement Agencies (VOLAGs), and experts in education and training. From this input, the CRCs develop a service plan each year for refugee services and programs, which is approved by the county Board of Supervisors, the state of California and the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement.

The CRCs oversee the operation of the refugee programs within the counties in collaboration and coordination between the MAAs and the community-based organizations that provide the services to refugees.
