About the Refugee Programs Bureau
The Refugee Programs Bureau (RPB) on behalf of the California Department of Social Services provides statewide administration of California's Refugee Resettlement Program (RRP) and the Cuban/Haitian Entrant Program within the pertinent federal guidelines, funding constraints, and the State Plan. The RPB has responsibility for managing and coordinating the delivery of benefits and services to the refugee and entrant populations of California in partnership with counties and local refugee service providers. The RPB also has oversight responsibility for the Repatriation Program and Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program.
RPB Mission
It is RPB's mission to provide state-level leadership and coordination of refugee programs and services to achieve successful refugee resettlement and self-sufficiency in California. The RPB is commited to continuing California's leadership in the efficient administration of the RRP.
RPB Units
Internally the RPB is comprised of three units that are responsible for overseeing the state's administrative functions. They include the following: Policy Unit, County Operations and Performance Unit, and the Community Outreach Services Unit. See RPB units' responsibilities for more information.
